in El Greco's Toledo awed me at a young age. His sky had such power. I worked on painting skies with futility for many years.
Then I discovered Eric Sloane. He painted masterful skies that I tried to emulate. I learned that he had written an instructional book in 1950, Skies and the Artist, but found it to be out of print.
I wrote him a letter asking if there might me one available somewhere. He sent me an autographed copy that I treasure. I still refer to it for believable skies and hope they bring something memorable to you.
