I paint for your enjoyment as well as my own. I bring images from my eyes and mind to the work surface and leave them there for your pleasure. I want you to experience my work from your viewpoint
Please enjoy.
The benches usually face the water near the beaches. I found this one with a gull perched on it either waiting for a handout or perhaps another gull. I sketched it and went home to paint it. I ignored the condos that were in the background and put a sliver of the gulf there to give you a glimpse of it.
You don't think of seeing small row boats in the Gulf but this one was a dingy anchored near the beach. The owner had rowed from his yacht that was moored farther out so he and his partner could enjoy some time on the beach.
I sketched it in pastel and painted it in the air conditioning at home. The Beach, in the summer, is a great place to sketch but I don't like to paint there. 8' x 10' Acrylic Price $200.00
The beach provides more than just a place to lay in the sun or to enter the water. The boy flies his kite while the man fishes the surf and our heron is waiting his chance to steal a meal from the bait bucket.
These little birds find food it what the sea washes onto the sand. Do you think that wave will flatten the little guy? Across the water, you can see how the buildings have begun to compete for beach space.
Phil began enjoying art as soon as he could hold a pencil. He excelled in school and studied art at a local collage at the age of 15. He won a number of awards while still in high school and had a one man show by age 17. In college he began in fine arts then pursued interior design. His work and business took his time and he didn’t find time to pursue painting. He retired and moved to Florida and began to wander the state and its beaches. He picked up his paints and brushes again and paints with the joy of a child.
He now shows and sells his works in a number of Florida galleries.
